Project Update: Linksman Golf Course

Golf Course Renovation for Linksman Golf Course in Mobile County, Alabama

CYPRESS CREEK

MOBILE, ALABAMA

In this spring of this year, Mid-America Golf embarked on a journey with Mobile County, Alabama to do a expansive renovation of the old Linksman golf course located on the Dog River in south Mobile. This $13.7 million renovation includes a complete re-routing of the existing course and will take place over a period of two seasons.

Early stages of this project includes a clearing operation of some 35 acres of heavy timber and 4 acres of sustainable wetlands. Currently the boys are in the process of lifting the golf corridors between 3-9 feet with a massive, earthworks operation to counteract the river’s propensity to rise out of its banks, specifically during high tides and large-scale weather events common to the region. We have recently begun irrigation installation and feature construction on the driving range.

The renovation is led by Steve Dana with Jerry Pate Design and the engineering firm of Thompson Engineering and will feature a 6,200 yard championship course, a state-of-the-art driving range, short game area and putting clock, and will partner nicely with the other amenities planned for this community-oriented facility.
